          Two generations of butchers… Colt Ross, son of previous owner Allen Ross, purchased the business in 2017. Colt possesses exceptional customer service skills and a solid work ethic, gained from his 14 years of experience with Les Schwab in Junction City and the example from his dad.

Within the first year of purchasing the business it was apparent the demand of the business had surpassed the physical space thanks to the incredible reputation Allen had built, so immediate planning for an expansion began. Divinely, the expansion of the building was finished just in time for the historical explosion in demand for mobile processing and retail meat during 2020 and throughout the next 5 years… It has almost been a decade of ownership, learning, growing, giving back and praising God for the opportunities He has given our family. Being a part of this community has always been such a gift.

You can find Farmers Helper at 390 LaSalle St. in Harrisburg. There you’ll find a meat market open to the public where meat is always sourced as local and from the highest quality available. You’ll find many cuts of retail meat along with smoked sausages and specialty cured meat prepared right on sight. Also, our mobile slaughtering unit for processing animals raised at farmers’ home, can be seen delivering to our experienced, incredibly hard-working crew specializing in custom cutting and wrapping.
